Deploying

Automate the path from commit to running code, and deploy small changes often. Rolling and blue-green deployments let you release without downtime and roll back quickly.

  • Keep configuration and secrets out of the image, in a secrets manager.
  • Health checks are what let the platform replace a bad instance for you.

Lock-in

Managed services save time and tie you to a provider. Use them deliberately, keep the truly portable parts portable, and remember that egress fees are the real exit cost.
