The evidence

Several independent lines agreeing.

Where it comes from

Fossils show sequences of intermediate forms. Anatomy shows shared structures used differently. Geography shows related species where land separated. Genetics shows the same code and nested similarities.

  • A whale flipper, a bat wing and a human hand share the same bone layout.
  • DNA comparisons produce the same family tree as anatomy did, independently.

Observed directly

Antibiotic resistance, pesticide resistance, virus variants and laboratory populations all change measurably within human timescales. The mechanism is not only inferred from the past.
