How money is lost quickly.

The pattern

Urgency, secrecy, an unusual payment method, and a promise of returns with no risk. Every one of those is a warning sign, and together they are conclusive.

  • No legitimate organisation asks you to move money to a safe account.
  • Guaranteed high returns do not exist. The guarantee is the tell.

Slowing down

Hang up and call back on a number you already had. Fraud depends on preventing that pause, which is why every script creates time pressure.
