Where to spend attention.
Skim then focus
Read the first and last paragraphs and the opening sentence of each middle paragraph to build a map. Then read closely only where the question points.
- Marking the text as you go makes locating easier later.
- Reading the questions first works for factual retrieval and not for main idea.
Time
Answer questions that reference a line number first; they are fastest. Leave broad questions until you have read enough to answer them anyway.
