Flags of the Americas

Stars, stripes and suns.

North America

The United States canton of stars and thirteen stripes, Canada's maple leaf adopted in 1965, and Mexico's eagle and serpent from a founding legend.

  • Central American flags share blue and white from a former federation.
  • Many state and provincial flags break the design rules badly.

South America

Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela share Gran Colombia's colours, Argentina and Uruguay both carry a sun, and Brazil's globe shows a specific night sky.
