Highest and driest

Everest is the highest point above sea level, while Mauna Kea is taller measured from its base. The Atacama and parts of Antarctica are the driest places on Earth.

Antarctica is technically a desert, defined by precipitation.
The Dead Sea shore is the lowest exposed land on the planet.

Erosion

Water, ice and wind reshape the surface continuously. Fjords, canyons and dunes are all records of that process working over long periods.
