Chapter 9 of 10

Risk and resilience

What could stop this.

Common risks

One large customer, one key supplier, one irreplaceable person, cash timing, and regulatory change. Naming them is most of the work; they are rarely surprises in hindsight.

  • Keep a cash buffer sized to how long collections actually take.
  • Insurance covers the rare catastrophic case, not everyday mistakes.

Recording decisions

Write down why a significant choice was made and what you expected. It makes later review honest and stops the same argument recurring annually.
