What they need

An engineer wants the mechanism, a manager wants the impact and the risk, a customer wants what changes for them. The underlying facts do not change; the emphasis does.

  • Lead with what the audience will act on.
  • Translate jargon rather than removing precision.

Cross-cultural

Directness, silence, disagreement in public and the meaning of yes all vary. Asking how someone prefers to work is faster and less risky than assuming.
