Notice failures

When a message is misread, ask what in the wording allowed it. Most people repeat the same three communication errors for a career because nobody names them.

  • Ask a trusted colleague what you do that lands badly.
  • Recording yourself in a meeting is uncomfortable and instructive.

Small habits

Summarise decisions in writing. Ask one clarifying question before starting work. Send the update before it is requested. Each is minor and compounds across a year.
