Reading about compressions is not the same as practising them on a manikin with feedback. A half-day certified course is the single most useful thing in this subject.
- Guidance differs slightly by country; follow your local resuscitation council.
- Guidelines are revised periodically, so refresh every few years.
Afterwards
Being involved in an emergency is distressing even when it goes well. Talking it through afterwards is normal and worth doing, and many services offer support to bystanders.
