What you can expect
Work should be done with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time, and for a reasonable price where none was agreed. Poor work should be put right at no extra cost.
- Get quotations in writing, and note whether a quote is fixed or an estimate.
- Agree staged payments rather than paying in full up front.
When it goes wrong
Give the trader a chance to fix it, in writing. If they refuse, you can have it corrected elsewhere and claim the reasonable cost.
