The routine

Restart it. Check the connection. Check for updates. Search the exact error message. Change one thing at a time and note what you changed.

Note the exact wording of an error before dismissing it.
Try another device or network to isolate where the fault is.

Asking for help

Say what you were doing, what you expected, what happened, and what you already tried. That turns a vague complaint into something someone can actually solve.
