Putting a specific name to a feeling reduces its intensity and makes it easier to act sensibly. Frustrated, disappointed and anxious call for different responses.
- A vocabulary of emotions is genuinely useful; bad and stressed cover too much.
- Physical signals often arrive before the label does.
